Welcome to the Digital Art Guild's 2014 Exhibit: Filters and Masks

The Digital Art Guild has been exhibiting in San Diego since 2003. 

DAG's members create contemporary art in digital media whether composed with fractals, painting, photography, or mixed media - sometimes presented on video monitors, paper, canvas, metal. duratrans or other creative expressions.  Their visions tap into the same creative well as past and present artists, sometimes layered as collage or montage or sometimes limited to what is seen on a two-dimensional plane. 

For 2014, DAG presents a juried exhibit titled Filters and Masks.  Not only do we filter reality and wear a variety of public and private faces, but as artists we dip into digital toolsets that provide other ways of framing reality. Like all the arts - visual and plastic, there are multiple layers of meanings, metaphoric and literal. The artists in this exhibit play with these ideas and invite the audience to play along and enjoy their visions.

Chantel Paul is the Assistant Curator at the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA).
 She has curated a number exhibitions at MOPA, including Kevin Cooley: Elements (2013), Staking Claim: A California Invitational (2013) and its accompanying catalog, Unusual Suspects: The Paintings and Photographs of Holly Roberts (2012) and Eyes of a Nation: A Century of American Photography (2012). Ms. Paul co-curated the NEA funded traveling exhibition Streetwise: Masters of 60s Photography (2011), along with the accompanying exhibition catalog. She is currently working on After Ansel Adams, which will be on display at MOPA this summer.
